Lesja Ukrainka came to Câmpulung together with Olga Kobylyanska on May 16 (29), 1901 from Chernivtsi. On May 22 (June 4) Kobylyanska returned to Chernivtsi, and Lesja Ukrainka remained here until June 14 (27), when she also returned to Chernivtsi.

In Câmpulung Lesja Ukrainka wrote a number of works: poetries «Tragedy», «If all my blood flowed like this…», «Flowers, flowers, as many flowers as possible…», «You didn’t want to take me…», «The lips say: "He died forever!..», «Hey, I’ll go to those green mountains…», «Guelder rose», «The royal princess», «I pass there were valleys and mountains…", аinished the article «Michael Kramer: Gerhardt Hauptmann’s latest drama», began to write a poem «Vila-sister».
