On February 10-20, 1900, Lesja Ukrainka was in St. Petersburg visiting her sister Olga. At that time, Olga studied at the Women’s Medical Institute and lived in its dormitory (8 Arhiereyska Street). The photo on the left shows the educational building of the institute (№ 6), and on the right, with a shift from the red line of the street – the building of the former dormitory (№ 8).

During this visit, Lesja Ukrainka agreed with the editor of "Zhyzn" magazine, V. O. Posse, to publish her articles. The magazine published her articles «Two directions in the latest Italian literature», «Little Russian writers in Bukovina», «New perspectives and old shadows», «Notes on the latest Polish literature».

Nowadays, these buildings are used by St. Petersburg Medical University.
