History
House situated on the red line of street. It belonged to prince B. Meshchersky. Originally it was two-storey with mezzanine floor and basement. In Soviet times, rebuilt the expansion mezzanine floor and add a fourth one.
In 1896 – 1901 here was worked Kyiv Literary and Artistic Association (KLAA), founded in November 1895 on the initiative group of Kyiv scientists and artists. Among the founders of KLAA: Kyiv University professors, historians – V.Ikonnikov, I.Luchytsky, geologist P. Tutkovsky, journalist M. Kiselev and others. The first chairman was Academician of Architecture V.Nikolaev.
Special place in the history of the activities held company representatives of Ukrainian culture. Among the KLAA board members were composer M. Lysenko, writer Olena Pchilka (O.P.Kosach), playwright and theatrical man M.Starycky, historians M. Vasilenko and O. Levitsky, I. Steshenko. Lesja Ukrainka was active member of KLAA, which has repeatedly played there with reading fiction and essays. In 1897 she was awarded by KLAA for victory in the literary competition. A significant event in the cultural life of Kyiv was celebrated in the society hall December 26, 1898 100-year anniversary of "Aeneid" by I. Kotliarevsky’s.
In 1983 the facade of the building installed a bronze plaque. Now – a residential building.
